Obituary for Mary A. Lynch Mobilia

Mary A. Lynch Mobilia, of Sharon, MA, formerly of Mission Hill, Roxbury, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2018 at the age of 79.

Loving wife of Pat (Pasquale) P. Mobilia. Loving mother of Maria Mobilia of Fremont, CA; Stephen (Diane) Mobilia of Nashua, NH; Mark (Dawn) Mobilia of Norton, MA; Eric (Beth) Mobilia of Bridgewater, MA; Kristen Mobilia of Boston, MA. Loving grandmother of Markcaya, Nick, Jameson, Shawna, Jonathan, Christopher, Emily, Mason, Cameron, and Olivia Rose. Loving sister of Susan (Vince) MacNeil of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia; Nancy Lynch of Gloucester, MA; Tina Lynch-Turner (Art) of Ottawa, Ontario.

Mary was a proud third-generation Bostonian and began her education at Mission Grammar and Mission High School. She earned her BA from Cardinal Cushing College (Brookline), as well as a master’s degree in education from Bridgewater State College.

Mary began her teaching career in Boston, taught and volunteered in the Sharon Public Schools, and retired after decades of service teaching in the Milton Public Schools. Post retirement she continued her commitment to education as an ESL teacher and volunteer in Brockton and Sharon.

Mary will be remembered by many for her poetry and facility with words, joy in music, dedicated professionalism, and strong sense of social justice, social responsibility, and activism. Most of all, she will be remembered for her commitment to her family, friends, and greater community.

Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 59 Cottage Street, Sharon, MA, at 11:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2018. All are welcome. Green burial at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon, MA. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mary's favorite charities would be greatly appreciated: the St. Francis House, Boston; Rosie’s Place, Boston, or any other shelter for the homeless.
