Obituary for Miriam Theresa Mackenzie

Miriam “Mim” Theresa (FitzGerald) Mackenzie, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2018 surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Miriam (Mulready) FitzGerald.



Mim was born on May 29, 1939 in Rockland and was raised in the Merrymount section of Quincy. She attended Leslie College in Boston and was a certified child care director. She and her husband Edwin were married on August 2, 1959 at the Our Lady of Good Council Church in Quincy. They raised their family in Sharon and in Foxborough where she was the owner and operator of Growing Together Pre-School and Kindergarten. She has been a resident of Plainville for the past seven years, was a long-time summer resident of Dennis Port and for several years wintered in Bradington/Annamaria Island in FL.



Mim was a long-time communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough where she volunteered and served in many capacities. An avid artist, she was a former art director at the Sharon Country Day Camp, enjoyed painting seascapes, and participating in art festivals on and around Cape Cod and in Florida. She also enjoyed spending time on the beaches both in Florida and on the Cape. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.



Beloved wife of Edwin G. Mackenzie, Jr. Loving mother of John “Jack” Henry Mackenzie of S. Attleboro, Miriam “Merrie” Mackenzie-Brooks and her husband Bill of Plainville and Edwin G. Mackenzie, III and his wife Jane of Mansfield. Devoted grandmother of Andrew James and Erin Moriarty Mackenzie and Richard James Glasheen, IV and Megan Mackenzie Glasheen. Sister of the late Connie Sances, Ruth Rugg, Ann O’Sullivan, Bob FitzGerald, Mark FitzGerald and Henry FitzGerald. Also survived by thirty five loving nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, June 13 from 3 to 7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday at St. Mary’s Church. 58 Carpenter St. in Foxborough. Interment will be held at a later date at Holy Trinity Cemetery and Columbarium, 246 Route 124, Harwich.
