Obituary for Stanley M. Robinson, Jr.

Stanley Matthew Robinson Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Wingate Senior Healthcare of Harwich.

Stanley was born in Norwood, MA on January 31, 1928, the son of the late Stanley M. and Margaret O. (MacNeill) Robinson Sr. He grew up on Old Post Road in Walpole and was a member of the Walpole High School Class of 1945. He married Velma R. Bourne on January 15, 1954 in the chapel at the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. Stanley and Velma resided in Foxborough until 1978 and were also longtime residents of Monument Beach and Carver. Velma passed away in 2015.

Stanley retired in 1986 after a long career with the Foxboro Company. He was a longtime active member and Past Master of St. Alban’s Masonic Lodge of Foxborough, a Founder and Past Master of Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge in Bourne, Secretary of the Plymouth Lodge and a member of the Phoenix Masonic Temple in Hanover, MA. With his wife Velma, Stanley was a well known active member of the National Camping Travelers and enjoyed visiting family in Prince Edward Island and wintering with a group of friends in Florida. In addition to travel and lodge work, Stanley’s interests included photography and genealogy and he will be remembered for his love of family and generous nature.

Stanley was the beloved father of Stephen and his wife Mary Lou Dunbar of Yarmouthport, MA and Nancy Chestnut of Fairfield, OH, and the loving grandfather of Michael Dunbar, Stefanie Speakman, Ann Gramling and Drew Chestnut, and great grandfather of Tyler Dunbar, Austin Dunbar, and Shauna Speakman. Stanley is also survived by his sisters Ellen (John) Tarpey and Margie (Pat) Snow, his brothers Richard and Charles Robinson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lois Ela.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, March 31 from 2-3 PM. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. For additional information please contact 508 543-5471.
