Obituary for Ruth Donnelly

Ruth Esther (Martin) Donnelly, age 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Thomas F and Elizabeth (Canavan) Martin and the wife of the late Joseph Donnelly.

Ruth was born on December 4, 1917 in Plymouth. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School and the Chelsea Memorial Nursing School. She was employed as a registered nurse first as a visiting nurse in Foxborough and then as a school nurse at the John J. Ahearn Middle School in Foxborough. Ruth loved to travel and was an avid reader. She loved swimming, flower gardening and playing bridge. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Beloved mother of Joseph “Pat” Donnelly and his wife Carol of Norton, Anne Marie and her husband Terrence of N. Attleboro, Michael Donnelly and his wife Dalphna of Kentucky and Thomas and his wife Christine Donnelly of Norwood. Loving grandmother of eleven and great grandmother of seventeen. Sister of the late Madeleine Holmes.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 25 from 2 to 4 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough. For additional information please contact 508 543-5471.
