Obituary for Bertha Hedwig Maloof

Bertha Hedwig (Vietze/Oehlschlagel) Maloof passed away May 16, 2019 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and with hospice services. She was the daughter of the late Robert Vietze and Ida (Zwecker) Oehlschlagel.

Bertha was born on February 25, 1927 in Boston. She attended Boston Public Schools and lived in Roslindale, then West Roxbury until moving to Foxborough in 1963. During WWII, she helped the war effort working in a factory assembling ordnance cones. After the war she continued factory work until starting her family. Bertha was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Foxborough where she was active knitting prayer shawls. She was also active at the Foxborough Senior Center where she enjoyed many activities. During Bertha’s retirement she enjoyed going on cruises and several trips with family and friends to Europe, Ireland, Alaska and the Panama Canal. Her favorite cruise was Boston to Bermuda. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

Bertha was the wife of the late George Maloof who died on April 20, 1993. She is survived by her children George P., Douglas D., Timothy N., Kenneth P., Aulus, Bertha “Bea” H. and the late Darrel J. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Martha B. Juergens, Roberta Roberge of Nashua, NH, the late William E. Oehlschlagel and the late Adolf H. Oehlschlagel.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, May 20 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 212 Main Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxborough.
