Obituary for Richard H. Noonan

Richard Herbert Noonan, age 87, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Doyle) Noonan.

Dick was born in Norwood on June 5, 1931 and was raised in Walpole, where he was a graduate of Walpole High School, Class of 1950. He was a member of the Walpole High School State Champion Hockey Team. He and his wife Alice were married on November 16, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough. He has been a Foxborough resident since 1957.

Dick was a retired hearing examiner for the Massachusetts State Parole Board and previously worked as a corrections officer with the Massachusetts Department of Correction. He also was a former Foxborough reserve police officer. He was a charter member and past Grand Deputy for the Knights of Columbus in Foxborough. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Parole Board Association and Massachusetts State Police Association.

Dick was one of the founders of the Foxborough Youth Hockey Program in 1970 where they first held practices on the Neponset Reservoir. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Dick is well known for the many hours he would spend maintaining his meticulous lawn and gardens.

Beloved husband of Alice (Engley) Noonan. Loving father of Mary Smith and her husband Raymond of Foxborough, Deborah Giardino and her husband Phillip of Foxborough, Patricia Noonan of Foxborough, Edward Noonan and his wife Amy of Foxborough, Carol Flynn and her husband Arthur of Sandwich, Catherine Caillouette and her husband David of Wrentham and Richard Noonan, Jr. and his wife Paige of Wrentham. Devoted and proud grandfather of seventeen and great grandfather of three. Brother of the late John Noonan, Marion Hormachea, Robert Noonan, Joseph Noonan, and Thomas Noonan.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street in Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter Street in Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxborough.
