Obituary for Richard C. Lawler

Richard C. Lawler, age 90, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Norwood Hospital. He was the son of the late Patrick and Katherine (Smith) Lawler.

Richard was born on August 9, 1927 in Boston. He was a graduate of Boston English High School where he was an outstanding baseball player and an All Scholastic Hall of Fame inductee. A Boston native, he was a resident of Foxborough for the past twenty five years. He married his wife Helena (Uva) of sixty years at St. Joseph’s Church in Hyde Park. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was a retired Lieutenant for the Boston Fire Department with over 38 years of service. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed Irish music, dancing and traveling. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Beloved husband of Helena (Uva) Lawler. Devoted father of Janice Lawler of Foxborough, Maria and her husband Mark Rushton of Mansfield, Richard Lawler of Plainville and Stephen Lawler of Chicago. Loving grandfather of Evan, Jonathan and Mark Rushton. Brother of Anne Sweeney of W. Roxbury and the late Monsignor John Lawler, William Lawler, Robert Lawler, Thomas Lawler, Mary Radley and Patricia McGoldrick.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 20 from 4 to 7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Mary ‘s Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery.
