Obituary for Betty Truax

Marion “Betty” Elizabeth (Jefferson) Truax, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018 at Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro. She was the daughter of the late Rayburn Floyd and Marion (Mundle) Jefferson. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Pierce and the late Louis Alfred “Al” Truax.

Betty was born on February 21, 1927 in Boston. A child of the Depression, with no hope of being able to attend college, she attended the federal nursing program. She trained at Mass Memorial Hospitals. Remaining with the hospital, marriage and children followed, as did work at the Glover Hospital in Needham. Later she was employed as a school nurse for Foxborough Public Schools. Betty was a member of the Foxborough Garden Club, the Al Truax Bridge Club, Foxborough Country Club and was a volunteer at the Trading Post. Betty most enjoyed spending time with her family and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Beloved mother of Robert Pierce and his wife Helen of Mansfield, Jan and her husband Charlie Schlottmann of OR and Carol and her husband James Shruhan of Mansfield. Loving grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of nine. Sister of the late Peggy Webb.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Union Church of South Foxboro, 384 South Street,, Foxborough. For additional information please contact 508 543-5471.
