Obituary for Arnold Burke, Jr.

Arnold “Al” V. Burke, Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by the comfort of his loving family on March 5, 2018. He was the son of the late Arnold and Katherine (Burke) Burke.

Al was born on February 23, 1931 in Dorchester and was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the U. N. Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal. He married his wife Julianne (Moynihan) on May 17, 1958 at Our Lady of the Presentation in Brighton. He was employed as a boiler plant engineer for the former Polaroid Corporation.

Loving husband of Julianne (Moynihan) Burke. Devoted father of Arnold Burke, III and his wife Susan of CA and Patricia Ann Moses and her husband George of Foxborough. Beloved grandfather of Andrew, Michael, Jonathan and Jennifer Moses and Rachael Vetter and Matthew Burke. Brother of Claire Kelly of Milford and the late John Burke and Mary Timmins. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Al was an avid woodworker and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren especially watching their lacrosse games. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 13 from 5 to 8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne.
