Retired Engineering Technician for Northrop Corporation
Foxborough – Norman N. Allen, Jr., age 82 passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Norman and Leah (Prew) Allen.
Norman was born on October 10, 1935 in Providence, RI. He was employed as an engineering technician in R&D for Northrop Corporation for many years. He was instrumental in building guidance systems used by NASA during the space missions to the moon as well as for military submarine systems. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp in Okinawa, Japan. He married his wife Elsie (Erler) on June 22, 1957 at Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. Norman was known as a jack of all trades and enjoyed rebuilding houses and electronics. He was also an avid fisherman. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.
He leaves his beloved wife Elsie with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Devoted father of Martha Jordan of N. Attleboro, Susan McGarry of Waltham, Laurie Leehan of Plainville and Robert (Elizabeth) Allen of Foxborough. Loving grandfather of Benjamin, Ashley, Gregory, Tyler, Rebecca, Nicole, Sean, Sophia, Brynn, Warren and Nelson. Brother of Alice Peterson of NY, Harriett “Sue” Bailey of Foxborough, Chuck Allen of E. Wareham and the late John Allen of Norfolk.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 10 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough.
