Donald Wright Sr.

February 21, 1948 - June 14, 2017

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

Foxborough- Donald Wright Sr, age 69, passed away at the Seasons Palliative  & Hospice Care Center in Milton on June 14, 2017surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Evelyn (Myer) Wright and the late D. Orville Wright.

Donald was born on February 21, 1948 in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Hillsboro High School with the distinction of never missing a day of school. He received his Associates Degree from Hillsboro-Jefferson City College. A man of great integrity and knowledge, he had a love for learning and continued taking many courses for most of his adult life. He helped design the DC 9 & DC 10 aircraft and F-15 fighter aircraft. He also contributed to the Apollo 11 Program by assisting in the design and development of the Lunar Rover. He was a member of the Foxboro Historical Society, the Historical Commission, and the Memorial Hall Committee. He was the treasurer and an Elder of the Waters Church in Norwood. He was an antique car enthusiast, enjoyed gardening and loved genealogy and family history. He played the trombone and enjoyed playing Gospel music. He was very strong in his faith and his church.

Donald had been employed by McDonnell Douglas as a draftsman, he relocated to Foxboro in 1979 to work at the former Foxboro Company in the Technical Database Department. He worked at the IBM-Lotus Company and the Newport Naval Base Academy as a consultant. He also worked at Naragansett Electric and Fidelity where he helped design the Oracle Program. He owned Business Resources in Foxboro and worked in the corporate office of BJ’s Wholesale Club in Westboro.

Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Thompson) Wright. Devoted father of Donald Wright Jr and his wife Pamela of Bellingham, and Cynthia Thibodeau and her husband Frank of Woonsocket, RI. Superhero to his grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, Christopher and Hannah. Brother of Leonard Wright of Hillsboro, MO and his Aunt Jennie Peery of Hillsboro, MO, along with many others of a large, loving family.

 

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to calling hours from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A funeral service will be held on June 20, 2017 at 11 AM at the Waters Church, 668 Walpole Street, Norwood followed by an interment at Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxborough.  A reception will follow the burial at Waters Church.  For additional information, please contact 508-543-5471.
